Alex Kingston said the ‘clock is ticking’ as she counts down to making her strictly dancing debut.
The award-winning actor is among 15 celebrities taking part in the 2025 series and will take to the famous ballroom when the Hit One Dance Show returns to screens later this month (September).
Alex, who has been a star of stage and screen for more than four decades, gaining international fame as Dr. Elizabeth Corday in the global TV drama, and her 14 other contestants will be seen when they are strictly released on Saturday, September 20.
Ahead of the launch show, which is pre-recorded a week in advance, the professional dancers have been busy preparing and pre-recording the group numbers that are expected to be seen throughout the 23rd series of Strictly, while several of them have also met their celebrity partners for the first time.
Alex seems to be excited about what’s to come, with her taking to Instagram this week with a photo of her strictly locker room door and a smiling face of herself.
Alongside the post, she wrote to her followers: “The clock is ticking!! Any guesses as to who I might be dancing with… can’t wait to find out!!! @BBCStrictly #Strictly.”

And she was quickly flooded with support. @Kara__HairCare_ said: “So excited you’re going to be absolutely amazing, can’t wait to watch you strictly.” @simplyalexkingstonfansite wrote: “Ahh so exciting!

Alex is known to millions of Doctor Who fans as the iconic River Song, also known as the Doctor’s Wife, a role she played alongside three Doctors on screen and continues in the audio adventure and new format.
Her other television work includes a BAFTA-nominated performance as Moll Flanders, as well as roles in Douglas Gets Cancelled, Betrayal, Gilmore Girls, Boudica, Austen’s Lost, Dodger, A Discovery of Witches, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and Arrow. Her extensive theater roles range from playing Lady Macbeth to nursing Ratchet in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Prospero for the Royal Shakespeare Company, and many more.
In her dance-off, Alex simply said: “Aaaaagghhh!!!!!!” But shared during her big reveal on the show, from her Italian vacation: “I was super excited, but now I’m terrified.”
